The Meinl Sonic Energy Octave Steel Tongue Drums are made of high quality stainless steel. They have a central bass tone in the middle, which is surrounded by eight other tones. These eight tone fields each consist of two reeds that reproduce the tone in two octaves. This creates a wonderful, meditative sound that is similar to that of a handpan. The sound hole is located on the underside of the drum and can be closed with a silicone plug to make the sound even more compact. There are also three silicone feet on the bottom to keep the drum from slipping. You can play the Octave Steel Tongue Drum with mallets or with your fingers if you prefer. Simply place the drum on a flat surface or on your lap to start playing. Included are two wooden mallets with rubber heads and a nice carry bag with a zip and handle.
